Technically...but will a short bar, and big cc, you'll never find/notice it.

What you looking to spend? Do you typically do your own repairs or let the shop handle them?

The last time I 'needed' a dealer was to put new firmware on the AT12 carb I swapped onto my 550xp 3 or 4 years ago.

If I had to buy a 70cc tomorrow, it'd be the Echo 7310. The 572 will outrun it by a hair, but the 7310 has no electronics on the carb, which means I should never 'need' the dealer. If I did, I'd have a 5 year warranty covering me. It's not like I sprint around the woodyard while bucking, so slight speed differences are not too big a deal to me.

I have not tried a ported saw. It's not something I know how to do and I do not know anyone local who does it. I could probably find someone though if I asked around enough. I used to run a 20" on a 365 years ago and it did the job fine. I have just grown accustomed to the 18" for cutting wood that size and smaller while the log is on the forks of the tractor. An 18" bar usually allows enough room for me to pick up 2-3 logs and have enough clearance to cut one while not interfering with the others.

Typically, I don't do much repair on my own saws. Working on things was never enjoyable to me so I never really learned much about it to be honest. I would rather have 2 reliable saws and if one needs to go to the shop, I still have the other to keep on cutting. Keep in mind, firewood is side work for me but I have been cutting 250-375 cords a year. Even if I did have the knowledge, I don't have the time. I don't want to just throw money around but the price isn't a huge factor for me. I got my 390 for right around a $1000 2 years ago and was ok with that.

No harm in having a computer saw then. The 572 is said to be beastly. Slight teething problems but should be GTG at this point. Allows you to keep patronizing the dealer you like.

A 10T 3/8 pitch will get you ~125ft/sec chain speed at 12,000 rpms (assuming the saw can hold 12K in the cut geared like that). That's a big sprocket!

I'd buy a new oem Husqvarna lowtop 372 off of nightrouge
I think they are under 900.00 shipped.
I already have 6 or 10 oem jonsereds 2171/2172 and Husqvarna 365/372s or I'd buy one.

Yes sir, a 372 with an 18" bar & chain would be a very fast set up.

IIRC Crocky can get 272XP’s for $900 shipped and 372OE for $875 shipped. You would be happy with either running an 18” bar. I mostly run a 28” bar bucking and a 24” bar noodling full chisel full comp on any saw above 66cc.

Hey jrider , I have a ported Redmax Gz7000 same thing as a 570 husky. Huskihl ported it and My opinion is that you can't get a better porter. It'll out cut a stock 272 372. If your interested pm me. It's listed in the for sale section. Thanks Brad

You can get with Huskihl about questions that he done to it. Basically it like taking a motor and installing power adders. It pulls a 28" bar in white oak and Hickory easily. So if you run an 18 or 20 on it it'll really rip. It's equal in weight to the 044.
