I have 2 Chinese saws (2500 top handle and Neotec 5800) I've run several tanks of 25:1 and now want to go with 50:1 as per my other saws. Will the 50:1 be OK?
I want to say that I am pretty sure all manufactures now days recommend 50:1 mix ratio Most everything is made in china anyways Just run good oil not the cheap Walmart super tech crap
I just bought a 372xp clone about 6 months ago and followed directions to use that 25:1 mix and it was super smokey and blubbery. I quickly moved to the same 40:1 mix (echo red armor) that all of my other 2 stroke stuff uses and retuned for it. That 25:1 recommendation has to be for some third world application where they are using 30 weight engine oil for mixing.
For sure third world You are using good oil are you always using fresh gas And high test gas ethanol free if you can get it they may have wanted the saw broke in with a heavy oil mix just to make sure the bearings are lubed and maybe to provide extra oil while the rings are seating
If you every get the chance to look up an old saw like a 2 man McCullich it says mix with 30 weight engine oil Figure back in those days oil wasn’t what it is now days
I bet heavy mix ratios too. Even some old homelite generators wanted a 10:1 mixture for their 3600 rpm 2 strokes. 30 weight engine oil of course.
I haven’t looked one up in a while but you are right I am thinking the McCulloch/Mercury chainsaws were mixed at something like 25:1
I dunno, if a Chinese cloned chainsaw is good enough for ya, cheap Chinese oil should also be good enough for ya! I'm sure there are some clones of good oils out there that one can find for cheap.
