Why not ! What are you guys using ? I was a long time TSC bar oil user..but had availability issues during covid. So switched over to Cam2 from RK. Seems to do just fine on my Sugi bars !
I stocked up on Husky when I found a deal and bought 3 cases so that is my flavor for a while. Also have a couple jugs of Stihl winter weight but not sure why. If it is that cold, I am sitting by the fire and not cutting wood that's for sure.
Amen on the winter weight ! I think I have a partial winter jug...from my late teens-early twenties ! Back when I would put on full Carharts..and go get it done in the woods. Now..like you..I choose to get my stuff done in good weather..enjoy the woodstove in cold weather now !
I would buy a gallon as needed years back and gradually would buy the TSC brand especially when on sale. Same issue here during COVID. Sirchopsalot was kind enough to pick some up for me when he was out West (Ohio, I think). Lot cheaper out there. Down to the last gallon so have to check TSC again. Have a partial gift card form there so that's what I'll buy. The brand name (Stihl, Husky) are too expensive for this cheapskate.
I used TSC for the longest time, as it was on the thicker side and tacky AF and for a great price when bought on sale. However, I recently found out they apparently switched suppliers and it's no longer the same stuff it once was. I really should verify this here locally, but I'm sick of dealing with tack-less stuff. I ordered some Mystic and one may as well use motor oil, as that stuff has ZERO tack. I cut solely in winter and have never used winter grade stuff. Sure, it's thicker coming out of the jug, but once the saws warm it up it thins right out. Right now I'm using Amsoil's stuff, which has some nice tack to it. I'd like to try Bel-Ray's stuff, but can't find it around here and it's crazy expensive online.
I bought 12 gallons of echo oil of of "offer up" for $50. The exchange took place in a far corner of a gas station at night so I don't anticipate that sale going on again.
I’ve been through many different brands and typically get what’s cheap. Last big purchase was 2 cases of BelRay Hi Tac. Go-to is TSC and I’ll usually mix it w the good stuff. My BIL gives me a gallon or two of Stihl orange jug per year for gifts too. Put that in an old laundry detergent bottle that acts like a no spill for bar oil. Just screened 3 full 5qt jugs of my old splitter hydro fluid that’s getting mixed in.
Bar oil is one of the things I'm not picky about. It just depends where I happen to go when i need it. TSC and Lowe's are convenient for me, so I usually end up with something from them. I'm using pro select from Lowe's right now. I've used husky, supertech, and house brands from TSC and Ace Hardware too.
