Unfortunately not much progress, endless excuses from the builder. I don’t get it because I’m my own GC, I arranged the dirt and concrete work and am buying all the materials, all the guy has to do is show up do some work and he gets paid…in cash, we have a contract that stipulates how much the total labor is and when and how much he gets paid as he hits milestones, it’s his contract. Concrete pilings for the lean to and the porch are in, we used my tractor/backhoe for that. He started the porch. Garage doors are in, that was a sub to a door contractor. Big piles of materials waiting. Tractor fits nice
Yes, for future ceiling if I ever decide I want to insulate the building. Trusses are 24” spacing purlins are 16. 12’ walls on top of a 1’ concrete wall, two bottom plates and three top plates gives just enough height for 18” of clearance for the door hardware and a ceiling. Built dollys for all my 3pt attachments, makes it super easy hooking things up. Switching from a three pt attachment to the backhoe takes about 15 minutes.
That's a big building. You must be so pleased to get it this far. Of course, love the dog picture one.
Very nice build. You’re going to enjoy that for many years…Congrats! Edit: Nice pic of the pups too Do I see tracking collars on them?
Yes, the Hounds get the run of the place, I like to keep track of them. The boys will be 10 next week...time flies
My FIL, the electrician, is a snowbird, so I ended up having to hire an electrician to get the service to the building. My FIL should be back from FLA in a few weeks, he will help me wire the rest of the building and install lighting. I decided to put the barn on its own service so it has a full 200 amps.
That will be nice - our barns, shop, and house are on one 100 amp service, and that is looking like a problem for my woodworking dreams. Will the solar farm be applied to both meters? Here in VT I think I would need to assign a fixed percentage split between the meters (but one plus is the meters can be anywhere in their service area).
