I’m shutting down tomorrow. Clean the stove out, remove and blow out the burn tubes, and go up on the roof and plug the chimney. Wife doesn’t like birds in the wood stove in mid summer.

None of you guys have a fire pit? One of my favorite things is fires during the summer. Has always been a favorite of the kids too.

How do I stand? Actually very little because of pain and bad legs...

As for fires in stove, I never figure the heating season is over until June but even then we sometimes have a short fire or two.

I love sittiing at a fire pit. Years ago my friends and I solved the world's problems many times sitting around a fire. Some adult beverages helped too. :drunk:

Other than a couple days I've still been burning 24/7 here. Let the fire go out early this morning though and won't have one during the day today. As others have said, I usually burn off and on into June, but we'll see how this year goes. The stove doesn't get cleaned out until July and some years gets used as early as late August. It was 48 this morning and I had the windows open, snow is melting fast with the warmer temps and all the rain this week, and I was walking around outside sweating with no shirt on. I'm ready for spring and summer to be over.

Sitting in front of a lovely little fire in the stove right now. Did we need it? No. Is it cozy? Yes.

Still taking the chill off. Ran out of split pine and pine rounds to split. Found some red oak rounds I forgot about and boy did they split easy.
I'm out of split wood so I'm scrounging day to day pretty much.

I'm burning outside right now. After dark, I'll go inside and light the stove. My burn season goes into May.

Still burning the occasional fire in the evening with a small load overnight just to keep the edge off. We have a few really warm days coming up but then temps drop back into the 60's/40's range with rain. Looks like a few more fires.

It’s been a cool dry spring here so we have a morning smudge in the dragon most days.Usually a full load of splitter trash does the job. I rake up a few piles and haul it to the basement in a trash can.
