I am choosey, so we’ll see if I continue to accept tree service loads. I’d say 10% of the load will turn out to be trash/fire pit wood. Limb wood is easy to process, but doesn’t make restaurant quality retail splits.
Sounds like they just want to get rid of the undesirable stuff not worth their time. If you were in need it would be a sweet deal.
Yes, I know the neighborhood they were working in and they have some BIG hvbw trees, so my fingers were crossed.
I'd recommend, not complaining about anything. and simply burning the garbage in a bon fire. It's much easier than going out and cutting trees down, and dealing with the brush, hauling it home, etc
Understood, but I also have control of a tree crew and can pick the cream of the crop of what gets delivered. This was a first time learning experience to see what happens. In the end it’s more inventory which I guess is why I asked to begin with. Under normal circumstances I’d say this load gets run through a chipper. I know this outfit has a whole tree chipper.
Ok. Then you are in a different position than people in my area. Having too much wood can be a wonderful problem or just a problem.
BW is only HV if it’s in lumber/live edge slab form, no? Or… are you gonna sell the log? Here’s a price guide if so; Seems a fair price?
Free and delivered is always nice. Do you have a mill too or just like the big ones for less bark on the splits?
I didn’t get any bw that is big or straight enough to cut a board. My guess is an old bw came down after all the rain and wind we had. When it fell it crushed a silver maple and pecan, or the silver fell into the bw and pecan. I got several shattered bw limbs.
Nice grab! Is limb wood not good? I burn limb wood all the time. Burns great! I like splitting it too, because the rounds don't break my back.
For personal use I have no problem with limbs. For storing it can be a pain and for retail I would not want to deliver a load of limb wood. I assumed I would get logs because limb wood is normally chipped. They have a whole tree chipper. This year I had a customer who said he did not want any unsplit pieces in his load, but also wanted big splits. Personally I would have split most of the load except for the Pecan. Have I told you how much wood I have?
