Ugh, wavy cherry. o_O That wood have been a shame to see. I’ve been there with maple. Ended up saving firewood pieces to make stuff with. I still have several pieces I planned to make small picture frames with.

Next priority is getting that black locust, then I’ll mill this log. I sat it in a place I don’t want it to sit long as a motivational tool. Lol.

They are everywhere in the woods and landscapes, but rarely do I get hold of a big one. Pretty common to see dead 4-6 inchers in the woods.

Yep, couldn’t bring myself to slice it up. Smelled so good too. I’ll cook with some of it for sure.

Great score! Hopefully you're cameras/ phones are ok. The sensors are not designed to be able to handle the light except for during total eclipse. The welding lens isn't even good enough.

Im starting to appreciate cherry heartwood with its rot resistance. I often encounter it at BL scores and have grabbed small bits to add to a load. Just did at my manic Monday score.

How soon you taking it down?

Maybe next week, obviously I have to work on padding my species count going against the FHC heavy hitters. I have not used cherry yet.
I might have to start grabbing random limbs to get into the top 3
