You should plant another partner for it. Surely you could get a cold hardy cultivar through mail order. Probably too late to get a bare root tree, but an option for next winter. I planted a couple bare root Pecans and one got crushed from a fallen cherry limb. It sprouted suckers and I pruned it down to one and have a small pecan tree again.
Pecan fever baby A big pecan limb broke out of a tree along my daily commute last week. I thought I would stop by and offer to clean it up. Before I stopped to offer assistance the homeowner chopped it up and piled it beside the road. I passed it Mon and Tue and had time today to stop and ask for the wood. First time cold knocking for Got a Taco load Homeowner rando lengths, but it’s Pecan. PNW moss on it When it rains it pours
I'd love to if I could find one and if my brother (who now owns the home place) takes care of it. To find something that would survive Zone 5 (central WI) isn't easy. Wish me luck.
Pecan, pallet and a 4 wheel drive a country boy can survive. Had to go back and get a little more off the stumps. You never know it might be my last time getting Pecan. The guy that has to dig the stumps out asked for them to be left 3’ high, but I thought that was more than necessary. I mean it a track hoe ffs.
Getting to the end of the Pecan logs and phew I’m tired of smelling pecan. I was cleaning ivy vines off the log and found a booby trap.
Been there for sure, sucks to see. Once was in an orchard, crotches had that high tensile wire to train limbs. Didn’t take long to pack up and leave.
Lost the point on roughly 5 teeth. It pretty much ended my firewood flow once I stopped to sharpen. Bummer since the weather was as perfect as can be for this time of year.
Yep, been there. We got lucky on so.e pecan, tree house had been built in it. Looked like the kids were bored hand had a big box of nails up there with them.
Guilty as charged. There's a huge red oak behind my mom's old place where I grew up. Bring lots of extra chains if you happen to cut it down!
