    Thanks. Its oooold as dogwoods go. Ive seen it in pictures of the house from the 70s so its at least 35-40 years old, probably more.

    Three of the big limbs are wired up and there main trunk is partially hollow where rot set in from the wound of a limb that fell at some point before we owned the place. It still grows like mad and I have to keep pruning the lower limbs so hopefully its still healthy enough for a few more good years, I'd hate to loose it!!

    I am zone 7a so on the northern edge of hardiness. Fair number planted around.

    I also have a weeping Deodar but it is young and they take forever.

    [​IMG] Have a few cool trees but fav is the bloodgood jap maple that my parents planted many moons ago. I love the bright color the leaves turn in Fall...so much in fact that when my brother painted the house in 2010 I had him color match the shutters to it's Fall colored leaves.

    Why this tree? I have about 11 acres of woods and this is the only Oak tree I have.(not counting the Pin Oak seedlings I have been planting the past few years)
