Okay....tasteless thread title I know. Anyway....I spotted this big downed ash tree a few miles away several weeks ago. Somebody had cleaned it up but the big main trunk was still laying. After about a month, I decided to stop by and inquire about it. The elderly gal's son was out working on something and was happy somebody stopped because he was tired of getting yelled at for not getting it out. Last night after work we went at it. The main...bad picture into the sun: A better look at how big this was...Husky 372XPW with 24" bar. This piece was out of the middle of main: The load. There is also about a half pickup truck load besides the trailer....and two big nasty pieces I have to go back and whittle on today. Lots in there that need split down further...I just wanted to get it home. We're going back this morning to clean up and start on the limbs. There's nearly this much left in the limbs to cut and split. Boy this Ash sure splits nice!
Like the old saying goes, or used to go; "it never hurts to ask". Although we all know sometimes it does. In tree talk, it's all good.
Looks like the size of the one that came down at my neighbor's house. I kept the log for lumber, and still got close to a cord just from the tops. Congrats!
I love a big ash!! The bigger around, the better!! All jokes aside that is some easy splittin', primo stuff right there......nice haul!!
I like that XPW!! Man. I really want one of those Nice haul there bud!! Great splitting and great burning wood!!
That there is a win-win deal. They got it gone and you got a good bunch of a favorite wood. Way to go!
