All summer long for me. I don’t wear pants if it’s 75 or warmer and I do firewood all summer.

How do you guys deal with saw dust in your sneakers? That’s a big NOPE for me.

Lol. I have done both. Chaps over the shorts though. Sometimes you have to get the work done, and it's already warm outside.

I hate that too. The chips get stuck in the socks. It's not only uncomfortable, but I always hear about it later. The chaps help keep most of it out when wearing shorts and cutting.

It doesn’t bother me one bit. I just dump out a pile of chips when done. So much more comfortable than wearing pants when it’s 90 out.

I personally don't feel that much cooler wearing shorts when it's hot...unless it's one of those 90* days with 90% humidity, and NO breeze...shorts might help then, but then all the sawdust n chips are gonna stick to you too...yuck!

I always wore jeans when I roofed. Someone gave me a pair of Dickies work pants (synthetic fabric) which I refused to wear as I didn't want to look like "a middle aged carpenter". I was in my early to mid 20's at the time. Well all my work jeans were ripped and one day out of despairation I put them on for the work day. I've NEVER worn jeans for any type of work again. Even in the cold.

I have been known to swing the Fiskars in shorts and flip flops though.:emb: Ms. buZZsaw yells at me when I do.

Don’t get me wrong when the work is over I’m all about the shorts. I’ve worked in a building without a/c or outside always some days it’s miserable.

Once I started wearing carhart pants that’s all I wear year round. Not the heavy canvas type.
I can’t imagine wearing shorts during ant season. They at least have to climb over my pants before murdering my belt line.
