Ported 2511p cutting biggish cedar today.
It's a pretty dandy lil saw.

I really enjoy using my XS 2511P. It's a nasty little ripper.

 

Ported 372 w/33" bar vs 29" sycamore.

Drug out the old Echo yesterday. Feel like it needs some use. Little battery Makita has been taking care of most of what I used to do with it. It was filthy and I cussed myself for that. A bath was in order.

First saw that I owned.

 

Trigger time with the worlds best firewood saw. A well ported 357xp.

 

Felling duty handled by an XS365sp.

I can actually remember lusting for a 359 back in the day. IIRC they are relatives? The 359 had a green fuel cap, so I assume it might be an EPA'ed version of the 357?

 

359 is touch more cc but tuned more for torque. I consider it a premium grade pick up truck that is a GREAT workhorse.

357 is a high strung, high revving fast saw. I consider it more of a Corvette.

Both are on the same chassis, bottom ends are similar but the 357 has a crank stuffer in it to lower the crankcase volume. Cylinders are different.

Both are GREAT saws.

 

Monte pretty much covered it. 57 has a better cylinder and stuffers, and specs at 14k rpm.
357 - 4.4hp from 56.5cc (compare that to other brands )

359 - 3.9 w/ 59cc and it’s not an XP.

The green caps were influenced by the EPA, I suppose. They indicated that the mufflers were equipped with a sort of catalytic contraption, that was actually just a plate with multiple small holes. I take a 1/2'' drill bit and make as many holes as space allows to open that up and allow the exhaust to flow with less restriction.

 

My favorite trimmer has a green cap. It's also has a muffler mod and aftermarket carb.

 

That saw sure does sing a tune!

Was just watching Donnie Walker put one of those unlimited coils onto a 372XT that he was converting to OE.

I'm not sure if the old shop had any 357s for me to drool over or not. I remember the 359 specifically along with 365 special were where my eyes went. The price tags were 'lol' at the time for me though. I only had my second hand 350 and my little Echo to work with then and was well aware that I needed more CCs for some of the work I was doing. I can also remember completely geeking out over the 394s on the shelf at the Farm & Fleet store in the next county. lol I didn't need one, but sure had some want.

 

Is that really a magnum or did you borrow that sticker from a Stihl?

 

With 357 on there, I had to make it a Magnum. Tie in from a pistol I inherited.

 

Gotcha. I know there is a couple numerical models that can be Stihl or Husky. 261 comes to mind and I believe there is another or two.
