Was taught, if something is gonna fall on the bucket, to squat low/wide and get your arms under the top bar up to your elbows, to hold yourself down, like doing a curl. Hopefully I'll never have to try it out.
Sure that might work if you even see it coming. Stuff happens unbelievably fast in tree work and typically we’re talking thousands of pound of kinetic force. I’ll stop mucking up the thread now though.
Got off Tuesday morning, friend about 5 miles from home had asked us about dropping a dead pine next to his small pond. When we got there, he showed us another tree he wanted down as well...and it was a nice bonus tree... Plant app says Sand Post Oak... Got the trunk logs and 1 big limb, left the other limbs for his firepit Cut the stump high, so he wanted a seat cut facing the firepit. I sat and thought about it... Our friend, Shane, trying it out Then we dropped the pine... Headed thru the gate opening... And got hung up on some smaller trees... Slow and careful, pieced it down... Finally rolled off tree, safely on the ground
LOL!!! I agree. Mebbe he was the model for this? We need to take up a collection and we'll have a FHC version cast in bronze!
When I first saw this picture I thought "Jeff...Seriously? Taking a whizz??" Then I saw the chainsaw bar and realized you must have just been sizing up the fall of the tree.
