Have a napoleon 1100c and last year I replaced the door gasket. Didn't do a good job on it because a dollar bill pulled out with no resistance along the hinge side. So I tried replacing today again. I tried to compress the rope gasket more but still doesn't create a tight seal against the stove. Using 3/8" because that's what the manual recommended and is fine in most areas. Just not on the hinge side. I don't believe the hinge points can be adjusted. Any ideas?
You might need to build up the stove cement on that side of the door gasket so that the gasket doesn't recess as far into the gasket channel. Then don't shut the door and squish the stove cement for a few hours to allow it to set up.
I am confused, though I am referring to an old BK, not a Napoleon. I watched a youtube video where a gal took extra precaution to stretch the door gasket, and the directions on the site I was shopping on actually stated that even though the replacement gasket looks too short, it just needs to be stretched. Though she was liberal with the cement...?
Buy a standard roll of door gasket, should be no reason to buy the manufacturers replacement kit. Most hardware stores will carry it on the shelf Rutledge brand in most ACE hardware stores. Work a short area at a time 6-8inches of cement at corner junctions, then turn and 6-8inches again - the cement sets too fast to attempt long stretches with a good result
The cement in the gasket kit that I used was very thin. Not water thin but close. I think it was the imperial brand. If I want to build up the cement in that area, should I use a different brand?
Or maybe I should use 1/2" instead of the 3/8". The 3/8" fit nicely inside the channel even when scrunched together. Perhaps too nice on the hinge side.... Anyone have experience trying to use a 1/2" gasket on a stove that said to use 3/8"?

Thanks thewoodlands! The manual has been updated since my stove was made I guess. See attached picture of my manual. I bought a 1/2" gasket made by Rutland and it is better. Not tear the dollar bill good but there is at least some resistance this time. We'll see how the stove operates this year. Hopefully better than last. Temp would spike quickly and you could see the flames from the air entering around the door when the primary was closed as far as it would allow.
