Don't worry Dave nobody is coming here or stealing my credit.
And, I don't have voicemail Horkn , since husband went into business they look up my number too and I get the solicitation/sales calls too. Not worth spending 20 minutes everyday deleting voice mails. If someone who knows me needs to get ahold of me they know how :)

I couldn't help it, having fun with him came out in my voice. What a ding dong. Long story short I'm apparently on the AARP list, not sure but I have a sad idea they are preying on seniors. If it happens again I'll be more prepared......

A friend of ours got one of those solicitation phone calls. She asked how he was doing. He said he was vertical and ventilating. This was well before Covid appeared. The woman said oh so sorry to bother you and she hung up. Took him a while to stop laughing.

Who would say their full name on their VM? Might as well put your SSN, mother's maiden name and your blood type on it.

Yep, as soon as it rings and doesn't go into the annoying " this number is not in service" or whatever they say then they know it's a real number.

I wouldn't say all of the info centers on newer cars. If you have a subscription, then you might be giving info to people

Feels like I'm in a time warp, thought it was Sunday all day long with family home. (one spring break, the other didn't bother getting to town with the snow storm).

Caffeine! I was going to get some work done outside processing a couple trees that came down in wind storms over the winter. But, the ground is going to be so wet from last nights rain I’ll probably wait until Saturday. We will see what it’s like out there this afternoon. I have other things to do. Time for my long walk / run exercise, throwing firewood into the basement bin. Cleaning garage. Cleaning the entire tractor, cleaning the boiler and boiler room. (I YiYi)

Using your full name on your voicemail is not an uncommon practice. Many people have to be able to be reached after hours for their job duties. I'm surprised you think it is unusual.

Heck, there are even people on this forum that use their full names! Others boast about how much money they are making; still others post their addresses and phone numbers!

Makes you wonder why there are the number of "robots" on this and other sites at any given time!!!

I wasn't thinking that anyone was going to "stop by". As far as stealing your credit or other personal info, you can never be sure. But answering a phone call from an unknown number is something neither of us do any longer. The number of spammers has decreased.

At the same time, during two years time, I have had two notices that my personal info has been compromised. Neither of these were due to my actions or answering calls from unknown numbers. It was due to the institutions that had my info. Their "security measures" were compromised.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure........

Well, maybe I shouldn't have said "all".......but if there is money to be made, just how long do you think it'll be before they jump on that wagon if they aren't already on it?

Heck, even the secretary of state sells my info! At what point did that become acceptable?
