I am even more determined, I guess. I would throw it on the brush pile.

I read that the digger pine has 12" long pine cones? I've never seen such a thing. I'd like some of those as fire starters.

I would put this chunk aside and dry it. Put it in your fire pit, pour some lighter fluid on it, ignite and enjoy. Call it your revenge for giving you such a hard time!

New idea put it on 10lbs of tannerite and hit it from about 150 yards.

I like this idea. I have been known for not-safe-for-children camp fires. Or burn-down-the-camp fires -- whatever you want to call them. Here's a nice one from a few years back.

Notice the nice clean burn from the well-seasoned white oak branches and bark. :D

Some of the eastern white pine behind my house is first generation after a clear cut . They are like yard trees - full of knots and often gnarly sections like that. Sometimes they pop and go flying. I've pulled out the saw to finish a few. I also have a dump I toss some pine in, lots of branches . At this point with the pines dying I just work the easy stuff .

This one popped out of the splitter a few times when under full pressure of the ram. Kind of scary.

I could have cut the round into split size pieces in about 2 minutes, which will be by strategy in the future for any this bad.

There are certain conifers that are really knotty that I will only noodle. No splitting even with hydraulics.

Some of our Doug Fir trees of the Wolf Tree pattern or even some normal Doug Firs will fuzz all up and refuse to split well when the round is exceptionally knotty. I just dealt with some of those yesterday. Some of the splits were all wild and hairy and went straight to the fire ring pile. I will say though, when seasoned, those hairy ones light off quickly!

Totally agree Noth. I'd let it win and live to split another day.

    Darn that’s ugly.
Had some big pine rounds out in the field for four years. Splitting them with my new DHT it was struggling, actually stopping. Blew one of the high pressure lines just as my mother walked up “to help”. Would have took her head off if she was 1 foot closer.
If I have pine with no knots I’ll bring it to the neighbor for his sugar shack. Anything else goes in the swamp. Still have a couple piles near my backyard pit which I don’t really use anymore.

Yeah, that's great stuff for the outdoor fires.
