I'm having the same problem, prices went up so much my taxable value went through the roof. My house went up 50k in value and my vacation property went up 65% (122k). I'll now be paying 3k more per year.

While I'm ranting, our auto insurance almost doubled this year.

Our auto does not have outrageous increases, but our home owners insurance and property tax are out of control, we're up almost $1K per month over the last 6 years with no serious improvements.

Our town too. My property is assessed at around $124k (in this case, I could get more than that if I sold in this day and age, but reassessment hasn't been done for 4-5 years - and my house is small, older etc.). My June bill was $1,577 and my December bill was $635 above that (about a 20% increase for a year). Our citizens, for a working class town, vote yes to every $ the school and select board want to spend. Next year will be at least that much in increase if the boards once again get their wish lists thru (to be fair, it has mainly been the school - but this year there are some hefty items on the town's side also).

Glad Lori is doing well and continues to do so!

Well, back in the 80's, when I visited LA for a week, I thought that sentiment was way overblown. They just expected you to be bold driver and know to the centimeter how big your vehicle was. They would let you in if you put on your turn signal, they just only gave you 2" over what the actual vehicle length. Although volume of traffic was more, I really didn't have any worse issues than I had in ICT/MKC/STL/ABQ. But, I was young and fearless back then (and could see better). Of course, that doesn't equate to how it is now

I switched home insurance last fall because my long time company was raising prices by 39%. Still paying 11% more with my new company over last year. My auto insurance only went up 11% but my vehicle went over that magic 5 year mark. I went and did comparisons anyway, but could find nothing better.

OK, I don't feel so bad. It's not just me going through this malarky.

I learned some interesting stuff on how they can assess way over value. Something in the books says because they don't evaluate yearly. They can quote what the house might be worth in the next 3 to 5 years. Seeing the pandemic had houses selling for large amounts over value it rippled into this BS. So here we be!! :(

I guess I'm lucky. Our auto went down. Mainly because my son got his own policy, But me not traveling 50+ miles a day also factored in. Home went down a bit too. No clue why.

I called they said the could lower it a few hundred, also said my home owners is half what they normally see and also many companies not willing to accept house policies anymore.

It's also complicated, our business and also with the same company.

It's crazy how much everything thing is going up. I'm guessing at some point the bubble will pop, then things come back down. These increases don't seem Sustainable.
