I confess I have gone vertical a time or two for big stuff, but go right back to horizontal when the deed is done.

Very nice job on the platform, I need to add some pieces to ours to hold it in place.
    Stacks look great

But who knows? Some day you may see the light and do all your splitting in the same direction God grows the trees!

Whatever the arguments may be, the truth is: If a man is 81 years old and still heats with firewood and processes his own wood, then I guess he has earned the right to run his splitter whatever bloody way he wants to!! :salute: But I would never say that out loud! :zip:

Let us never forget that for several years most of our wood has been cut and split by some wonderful guys who come here for a weekend of fun every spring!!! No, they do not do all the work but do the lion's share and it is greatly appreciated. In addition, a few years back one of our good neighbors had some medical problems so I asked the group about how they felt about putting up his wood for him. Immediately they all jumped at the idea. I just can't say enough good things about this group! In addition, we have a friend who lives many miles away but sends gifts for us to give as door prizes. Another friend who is not so far away has come here every year and gives a chain saw as a door prize. Wow!

Spot on Dennis- I know I can say the Michigan and Ohio GTG’s have been the absolute high points of the year when I was in regular attendance. :handshake:

Well, I will come out of the closet….I split most wood in vertical:rofl:  It’s not that I don’t like running splitter horizontal but with my back issues it’s just more pleasant. I can sit and pull the wood to me, or if help is around they stage it close to me, then I split and toss in tractor bucket parked to my left. Hopefully I won’t have to surrender my “Man Card” now:( Move Tractor to stacking area and good to go.

Looks like we do it very similar. I have the stack of wood on the left and split go on the right. If I am not stacking right where it is split, then the tractor is on the right. It works very nicely. And it also appears we both have back problems.

  Looks like one of his friends did him a solid. A bit of leftover culvert and the digger was used on the last hour Thursday. Get him a steel lid and it'll double as a foxhole for Halloween.

You can go horizontal on the bigguns just don't let them on top.
