Caffeine! Time to run out and get the fire stoked again. I’m working on getting the rest of my piles burned up before the County Burn ban starts on the 16th. Hopefully have it done sooner.

Our Daughter has a 2013 AWD. Had it about 2-1/2 years now. Been a good vehicle for her. I believe it currently has 65,000ish miles.

That's good. Some people say they're good, some people say they're junk. I guess that's true for every vehicle.

They rectified the issues they really had on these by '15. Earlier ones had horrible engines in then that wouldn't last. Even then there were some that defended these things. At least these don't have the 6 or 8 SPD that the full size trucks and rwd based GM vehicles have. My boss's '13 GMC Sierra just puked it's 6spd auto after 140k. He's towed only like 3 times, short distances and small boats. He's got a Big repair bill on that, but a new truck is still way too expensive. Best thing to do is avoid GM vehicles, but they even make some decent ones once in a while.

True. This one has a new engine.

My assistant at work recently took his 2015 sierra with barely over 100K miles in for a rough idle. The computer said it was an injector. An experienced mechanic listened to it and said it wasn't an injector, but he was busy repairing an ambulance so another mechanic worked on the truck and trusted the computer. A full set of new injectors and 2 new fuel rails later, the experienced mechanic was proved right. He has a deteriorating cam lobe.

He told them to put it back together, refused to pay for the new parts since the mechanic misdiagnosed the problem, and will drive her till she drops, or until he finds another Truck worth buying.

If only we could get away with not paying doctors when they're wrong.

Well like I said to him, that was about like a doctor giving you medication for an ear infection when you've had a heart attack.

All the more reason to make sure your pet has up-to-date vaccinations esp before going anyplace where there are other animals

Started with 12 big brush piles from clearing that area behind our pastures. I have just put everything from the last big pile onto the last fire. Then leveled everything off around the outside of the hole I dug for the fire pit. (Except the earth mound I built around it to protect it from the wind yesterday.)
I’m hoping it burns down enough overnight so I can bury it before it rains tomorrow. Big relief to have all that material gone. Now the rain is coming tomorrow and Sunday it turns to snow. (1-3” they guess.) I’ll be able to take a break from this work now. Need to wait until things dry up to begin the work of preparing the land to be planted with grass, and maybe some nice trees where we want them.

Agreed, he was up to date tho. We won’t be doing the kennel boarding again.

My Dad died from complications from a botched surgery. No recourse, they had to sign off on papers to get the surgery.

Everything everyone has said here mirrors my experience. My soil is clay and four months at least out of the year is muddy. It is also hilly and I have the rims/tires mounted for the wider stance. I think it's the best compromise for me. When things dry out I run the scraper or blade over all the tire ruts. I'll take the traction! I use the tractor for dragging trees up to the landing for CSS, using the box scraper on the trails and earth work, hauling brush with the grapple and moving anything and everything around the property.

I need to do the same. Last year the grasses dried out faster than the mud dried out. I wasn't comfortable burning in that situation. The grasses grew so tall with all the rain we had last year. This year looks to be the same. 12 piles is a whole lot! How many fires did it take to consume all that?

I've had to sign off about unexpected complications and possible death for every surgery I've had. All three of them were day visit surgeries, so not expected to be complicated and barely even put under (I woke up during my wrist surgery, as they were finishing up and could feel the pulls and could tell when they started stitching from the pulling sensation). Just going under anesthesia can kill you without even doing anything more.

Of course there's a huge difference between the inherent risk versus an actual botched surgery.

I do not remember how many fires I’ve had to get rid of all that brush and trees. In the area I cleared were many whole trees that had come down from bugs and wind over the years. Sometimes I was burning for four or five days straight by just keeping one fire going and adding to it from piles that were close by. Thanks to the invention of engines, hydraulics, and tractors. :saw::tractor:
