What is the difference between a Stihl yellow bar and their green bar? I know the yellow one is considered a pro bar and the green a homeowner bar, but I would like to know the physical differences.

I believe the green tag bars are low kickback and the yellows aren't. The radius of this tips are different. I'm sure there are other differences like replaceable tips ect between the two.

Basically what I thought. The larger tips on Yellow bars have a larger kickback area vs the smaller tip on the green bars. All my stihl bars are green tag and say reduced kickback in their description.

Sounds like a lot of guys use the green bars and yellow chains. That works best for me.

When I buy a new bar or chain at either one of the Stihl dealers I go to neither asks me which bar or chain I want just size and what saw I'm getting it for. I don't think either on stocks either bar

Sounds like you need a better dealer.

I concur. My local dealer has a wall of bars and chains. Still, Husqvarna and Oregon.
