I split up some more doug fir today so my wife could start a fire. She loves doug fir and uses the big splinters to get the fire going. (We will be getting lots more soon) I did that and then checked on the rabbits. I found a 2 week old bunny with a lip torn almost completely off. I scooped it up and came straight inside. My wife helped hold the bunny while I stitched the lip back on. It was a trooper, only wiggling when I hit a nerve. It's in a box now and it will stay in the house over night to scab over to help keep bacteria away from the injury. Nest boxes are full of bacteria. It seems pretty calm and content now. I hope it heals up and makes a full recovery.
Our best guess is either the mom bit it by accident or it stuck its nose in the wire and moved funny. Not sure.
