Golden colored firewood that is. My neighbor Darren is doing some clearing on a wildlife refuge about 40 miles north of town. He also is a wood burner and couldn’t stand the thought of mulching a bunch of black locust. So he checked with his contact at the refuge and got the okay to keep as much of the BL as he wanted. He called me on Wednesday to let me in on the score. I jumped at the chance. Sounds like he will shear the trees off, and I will limb them and cut to log length. Then use his machine(s) to load our trailers . I’m pretty excited about it, and hope works out as well in real time as it is in my head. Pictures to follow this evening (hopefully)
Certainly sounds like a sweet deal all the way around. Hope it goes well! Sent from my SM-S536DL using Tapatalk
Warning, the following series of pictures may cause jealousy among Black Locust fans! Ok…. 12 hours later and this is all I have to show for it. Part of the scene upon arrival. Getting started The next picture is Pretty much the same point of view as the first picture
Time to start packing it back to the trailers. It was quite a long haul, maybe 1/2 mile or better. Took about 20 minutes to make a round. my trailer is the yellow one We should be able to get the rest tomorrow in one load each. Mostly green logs left, so tomorrow’s loads will look a bit smaller maybe but probably gonna be heavier
I am not worthy! You werent kidding. Thats an insane amount. You must be on cloud nine right now. Tired as heck, but still on cloud nine. Go get the rest and post pics of the pile when done. Oh, and there's a cerain award for you as well!
Yep, I'm a little green...lol... That was a super score. Hardest part was the limbing and bucking. Machines do make it nice, especially having 2 to move logs. We've had some long rides back to the trailer before too. Probably can go a little faster with the tractor, though
