And they used to like nesting in the corn and bean rows. Then give the wounded bird show to try to attract you away from the nest.

Not yet. I'll be able to get figures of my usage this weekend.

A few years back I got really far ahead and didn't cut anything for 2 years. Now I'm behind :picard: I gotta get caught back up, and get on the 3 year plan. Right now sitting on 24 totes full. I'm guesstimating 10 cords.

This winter has been an easy one. Down about 2 cords. Normal year at my house is 3 plus cords. The amount of snow was considerably less as were the low temperatures. I'll probably be paying for it next winter so I've been hoarding whatever I can even though on the 3 year plan.

I had a killdeer close by last week, heard it, didn’t see it. No mistaking their call. Also had the pond frogs going crazy earlier this week.

I've got so much wood left. I've only burned a half bush cord this winter. Also nice that my wood is really nicely seasoned, mostly maple. I'm almost hoping for a few more semi-cool nights to use up a little more firewood but it looks like cold season is on its way out after another 30 days or so.

I've burned around three cords which is less than usual. Some of the time we used pellets due to traveling fairly long distances and not being home, and life throwing us curveballs.

Like everybody else, I have used less than normal for sure (4-4.5 cords/yr is normal) but not sure what I've used exactly...2 cords maybe...less than 3 for sure!
My overflowing hoard is growing too...just found out that they will be taking 5-6 medium to large oak trees down at work...and I'm the only wood burner, so....guess I'll be forced to take it all.... :D

Wood pile is looking great here.

For too many years I have been reading posts regarding low firewood usage and marginal winter temps.....all the time wondering what that would be like to experience. This winter, I found out. Just a few times below zero and pretty much a shoulder season all winter long for what I'm used to.

99's comments are "you sure won't have to haul much firewood into the basement for next year" :handshake:

I just tapped into my second cord on the second line of it... so I'm just about average maybe just a little less than... Usually right around 3 cords a year... but with this year at a higher BTU's than normal, since I'm using Oak... I'm using a bit less... My neighbor is pretty much head to head with me... So I have some catching up his wood source this year, but with his being quicker drying stuff, I should be fine... He's usually only a 2 cord year burner...

I would still plan for the worst next year. This is/ was an El nino year and never year will supposedly be the opposite, a la Nina. If that's the case, then lots of snow and much colder.

I'll get a real number today but a rough estimate is that I've burned about 2-2.5 cords where typically I'm at 3-3.5 cords at this point of winter.

He won’t have to haul as much because of what’s left over from this year. I’ll be in the same shape. But, all the bugs! My house might just fly away.

Just inventoried firewood used for the season yesterday. Figure 3 cords which is about average so I'm on schedule for burning my usual 4 cords total for this year.

I only burn a little over 2 cords in a normal year. I've burned about 1 so far this season.

Ahh makes sense. Apparently I need to drink some caffeine today.
I'm that guy that moves the firewood from the house ( on the patio) out to the shed again in spring. I mean I always have a few stove loads of wood in the house, just in case.

I had just over two full cords stacked in the garage in November. Tis all I have left:

I may have to wheelbarrow a couple loads from the shed but it depends on temps.
