I didn't believe it at first either but yeah, for the most part it's straight. The BE is at the bottom of the stacks. I did a bit of splitting today. And yes thanks for reminding me that the MTD isn't really that fast. Lol yooperdave , look what's on the splitter!
I took a huge BE down at work a few years back...it had some straight sections on it too...it was probably 30" DBH...even many of the limbs were big...lottsa wood outta that one! (and BE bugs everywhere!)
At least the splitter is configured correctly for getting work done!!! Anything else and you wouldn't have any place to set the beer can.
No BE bugs there on this score. It was too cold until today for bugs to be milling around. We had a big warmup last week, but I wasn't doing and wood work then. There was some good gushers from splitting the from BE though. That stuff dries so quickly that it might be close to dry enough when I get it stacked in the shed. I'm still surprised at how straight this stuff is. I'm able to get at least 1 square or rectangular split from pretty much every round. The biggest was 17" diameter , and the ash I dropped was 18", sorry no pictures because I was busy working and the homeowner was out there helping with cleanup of all three little stuff which was a big help.
They do make some good beers but Point isn't northern WI. (just bustin your b@lls) It just reminds me of a supper club just out of town here (about an hour straight west of Point), they just put up a sign that says "Welcome to the Northwoods". I guess to the FIB's that come up, it is the northwoods. I just wish they'd keep going north..
I know you're busting my balls, but that's a real debate about the start of the Northwoods. Steven point is the " gateway to the pineries" and they're the start of the Northwoods by a geological standpoint. You can see it in the sandy soil, the pine trees starting to take over instead of deciduous trees. It's a thing. And it's been debated quite a bit.

Some think that. It starts south of there though. By this logic, the city of Tomahawk isn't "up north" it clearly is. All off Lincoln County, Taylor City, etc, in that line are all when in the "northern forest unit" for deer management. Here's some good readng for you. Where does 'up north' Wisconsin start? Depends on how you define it Hwy 10 or 29 is really the dividing line of what "Up North" is, based off ecological and nature aspects. I'll side with science every time when there's proof like this.
