So, back in November I posted this thread Had a big red maple dropped today.“, I spent the first 5 or so weekends hauling brush and twigs to the transfer station, also a few home improvement projects including opening up a hole in a bathroom closet and cutting copper plumbing to sweat in a new shower valve. I have been getting a few hours here and there to work on this red maple, and do some transfer station scrounging. Since this tree is on my property I plan on harvesting EVERY practical btu. I used my RIOBI power mitre to cut a bunch of stuff 6” -2”, This tree had 3 major trunks, and those trunks had V’s, the first 4’ of trunk have been crazy with knots etc, now that I have processed all the small stuff I have been concentrating on noodling and splitting the big trunk pieces. Yeah those yard trees can be a PITA to process, but you got it done. Some good yield though.

Nice to see you back in action Thom!

Feels good to completely process a tree, especially one that size. Then to see what it translates to in cordage! Great looking stacks, and personally, I would probably go for the Tuscan bronze…….that is, if you’re asking:rofl:

Reds here any way grow in clumps; so a lot of those stumps til chest height and that’s why big bases have so many swirls as tress grew together around each other. The 3 major trunks growing out of 1 base we call leaders

    Yes, that's a biggun'

I was reading along, just hoping that you didn't get hurt, and that was the reason you haven't been on recently.

All good, just busy is the best reason!
