When I split the wood in the second picture the wood was very green. I have never seen that before. What kind of wood do you think it is

pics 2, 3 & 4 are tulip (yellow) poplar. Dries fast and good shoulder season wood.

Last two pics look like maybe Norway maple.

First pic im pretty sure is black walnut. Should be very easy to split.

Yes Tulip Poplar. In my area it’s next to Pine for bad reputation as firewood. In reality they are both a perfect combination with Oak. Alone Poplar makes decent warmth. I’m going to process more for personal use and probably add a handful or bag to sales loads. It’s perfect for right now when it’s 46 to knock the chill out of the house.

One more question. I just split this round and it has a little bit of a pink hue. Wasn’t sure what it was

Yep that definitely. I also see some Norway maple in one of the earlier pics. There's a few different species in that pile.

Some tulip poplar i split yesterday. Being late afternoon the color isnt as sharp in the pics. IMG_4981.JPG It will occasionally have some lavender/purple color to it. Very pretty wood. IMG_4982.JPG
