Colder here. What's your temp? What ya burnin?

Cleaned out the ash for the first time in weeks this morning. There was a solid thick layer of elm clinkers coating the fluffy stuff underneath No matter, it’ll get broken up and added to the biomass pile out back. There’s about 2” of fresh snow on the ground so far with more coming down. 28/70 elm and red oak.

 

Nothing fancy is good. I eventually want to get an inexpensive, small dump truck for our hobby farm. After I retire. 4 more years

 

Eric Wanderweg , yep, have some clinkers in mine too, from elm, but I didn't clean it out as it was pretty cold this am.


Just reloaded with all 4 year seasoned red oak.

It's 10 ° out now but the weather app says it's a real feel of -5°.

It's supposed to get near 30 today. So I'm sure that my wife will turn off the quadrafire's blower at some point today.

 

22/69. Red oak keeping it warm. We have a 2 day cold front moving through. It'll be back in the 60's - 70's Monday.

Started out at 8f and up to 12f now. Was hoping for warmer weather so I could work on Tippy, but too lazy to do it with frozen fingers. Need to bring a bunch more wood up and stage by the stove.

Kinda patriotic temperature combination.

 

Made it to the mid-30's but never felt that warm. Pretty much a lazy day today.

 

29 outside, forecast low of 20.
71 upstairs (basement stove).

Red oak, mostly. One big piece of white oak on the left, and two smaller pieces of black locust on the right below the big split of red oak there.

The oak is all 4 yrs old. (And was covered with a tarp for the first year before my shed was built, with rain hitting the cut ends, see the dark color of the white oak...)

I’ll be cutting down a sycamore soon and plan on processing it. Buddy told me it may be a beast to process, but that it’s some of the most aeromatically pleasant to burn. We shall see!

 

19/75. 3yr red oak ready for the overnight burn

 

I burnt close to a cord of sycamore 2 winters ago. Have about 2 cords in next year's stacks. I thought it burnt just fine and a lot of people say it is a pain to process, I didn't have that issue with what I had.

 

15/71 just set a load of maple and red oak on cruise mode.

 

All you really needed was some white oak, red oak, and blue beech and it would be extra patriotic.
