Horkn Is your yard dry enough to take your trailer across your yard? I still have snow in my yard and what ground is exposed, my wheel barrow loaded with wood will make ruts.

Nice scores Brad. Some hard work there.
I’m getting the sneaking suspicion the utility companies send all the crews to your neighborhood. They’ve learned they can tell the state they cut 10,000 trees that year and get a rate hike. And they don’t have to spend a dime hauling them all away. They’re making a fortune on you LOL
You should be employee of the year.

still want that tulip? Just want to know to save it or chop it up.

Back to the same area for the birch and beech spars. IMG_4929.JPG IMG_4928.JPG Lots of oak for the taking. I left it. NOTE: one hemlock log. IMG_4927.JPG IMG_4930.JPG Made a half load. IMG_4935.JPG Sugar maple next door topped off the load. IMG_4937.JPG IMG_4936.JPG Tight half cord plus load. IMG_4938.JPG IMG_4940.JPG IMG_4939.JPG Four cords for the score so far.

Good looking load, I like to see rear end sit down a little bit on the pickup when I'm heading home. Let's me know I got enough to make it worth the fuel and time.

Why leave the Oak behind? I've cut exactly zero Oak so far, but it's supposed to be legendary. Right up there with Locust (which I can get pretty regularly).

Space and drying time ... is what he's always says... He likes those faster drying woods... Speaking of oak... was splitting that red oak today that had a lot of rot... and the heart wood was as wet as if it was green.... Was amazed at how bad the exterior looked and how wet the inside was... But I got some beautiful splits out of it...

Not knocking it as firewood, but i wont sell oak unless its gone 18 months and through two Summers. Cant tie up the space that long.

In your situation (wanting to sell properly dried wood and having limited storage), I totally get why you don't cut much of it. But damm, that's a LOT of BTU's right there.

You wanna go cut there? Safe parking for two vehicles? Plenty of wood.

If I can find time I would love to.
Full day of work today and weather not looking good so that might be another monkey wrench thrown in. I’ll give you a call tonight

    Thanks

Kinda the same here although snow should halt home improvement work. Ill have to run down there and put up signs. The lady who lives there didnt want the wood. Side street parking and rather easy to schlep out rounds.

Split more cherry today and filled the half cord rack. Some nicer splits went for bundle wood inventory. IMG_4969.JPG With snow cover i doubt ill be scrounging so may split more this weekend. Wish i had more empty racks though. Seems i fill them as fast as they empty.
