Today was my first ride of 2024!
84 miles to a meeting, taking the long way around. 50+ degrees, off and on rain and sun.

I cleared 5460 miles last year, hoping to be able to double that in '24.
gotta get some new rubber soon though.

I haven't posted much here in the last year, but this past summer I took a motorcycle vacation. My friend, John, was out in Sturgis for the rally. I've kind of got the been there-seen that attitude about it, so I met him in SD after it was over. We headed up into MT then down to Vernal UT. He's a big fan of the Skinwalker Ranch TV show and wanted to see the area.
It was a great trip. I covered 3400 miles in 8 days. The Kawasaki ran great and I was getting between 55 and 60 MPG.
    A few pics...

That is a lot of miles, and a lot of riding!
Neat that you had the places to stop for pics.

Got the ol 520 out today. Had to lay her on the side for a few to get fresh gas in the carb but she started up decently easy after that, maybe 5 kicks. Was close to getting an mx boot on before laying down. Lol

No clutch so getting going was fun but doable. Took a couple trys. I'm thinking the slave cylinder needs new seals. This isn't the first time and usually the fluid is low. It's happened enough now that i didn't even pull the cover to see if fluid was low.

Unfortunately it's hard to find the leak cause assumingly it leaks right into the crankcase. There're no visible external leaks in the system. So one can only think.....

Si, a guy in England, does nice bike & rider caricatures. He just did this one for me based on photos from my trip to Florida and back in November, towing a roof top tent mounted on a trailer as a camper. (If interested, look up https://www.si-cartoons.com)

Only picture i took today but we got out and did a little dirt biking. About 25 miles offroad. There was a little snow and ice on the trail in spots.

Not yet. When I pulled into the bike shop boss’s house to get wood yesterday, he asked him me the I wasn’t out on 2 wheels. :loco:  I had no good answer. :(

I got out in January, and a couple odd 40F days. No rides to work yet as the riding weather comes and goes while I'm at work.
    Just under 200 miles ytd.
not sure how much riding I'll get in this summer, so pushing to get out where I can.
    Rubber side down!
