So I replaced this pump about 12 years ago and at that time, I was strong enough to pull out and lower the new 130 pound pump in by hand. I fear that I am not as strong as I once was and wonder what/if any ideas you have to possibly winch the pump in/out?

The pump is about 8 foot below grade.

The black pump is the replacement.

Yup, I'd build myself a simple tripod out of three 2x4s (one bolt or all-thread through one end of all three, laid side by side) and then get a come along...oh, and you'd have to hog the hole out a lil on the outer 2x4s so that they can be splayed out for a wider footprint

Think I am gonna try this and a come-a-long.

Feels like it can support the weight...

I'm curious as to how you're gonna hook onto the pump in the pit or can you just grab that pvc pipe coming up?

Why would someone need a sump pump outside?

One thing is for sure, don’t you trying getting yourself down to the bottom of that sump… you will become a plug.

    :wacky:

    :D Love ya Bri. :handshake:

Remember too, you’re gonna have to release the come along to swing the old pump over to firm ground, unless you think you can play Twister with that opening and your transit tripod to lift it off the come along’s hook…

A chain hoist would work a lot better than a come along/cable winch. Careful what your buying a quality winch is a lot more expensive than a wench but the long term cost of a wench far exceeds what you would have spent on a winch.

If I had the time and inclination I might make an oversized sawhorse instead of the tripod.

Not a bad idea at all...who knew you would have one of those ;)...so how far did those pointy feet get driven into the ground then?
