First off. Thanks to Skier76 for the lead.:handshake:

Freshly taken down dead red maple. Free wood sign posted in the front. Rounds bucked to fireplace length. IMG_4848.JPG Stopped after work and grabbed what was still there. Maybe 1/4 cord. Have a partial rack of red maple that this should fill up. IMG_4847.JPG IMG_4849.JPG IMG_4850.JPG

Nice to have it already bucked (sometimes) Did you go through and cherry pick everything that was 16" or just grab at random?

I took what was left. The biggest stuff was left as always. Wasnt cut like we do it but close enough for general cordage and some shorties to add to the nugget bin.

Nice little haul. Time and effort for that score makes up for some of the more PITA ones. I did so much maple in my early hoarding days I don't think I want to look at maple again for another 5 years!

I think the only maples around here are silver and all yard trees. I scored a pretty decent jag awhile back and would love to get a bunch more. I really like the way it splits and I thought it burned ok

Well, I guess technically you weren't blocking the driveway!

One in four trees in CT are red maple. I like silver too just not a common scrounge. Most silver i see here are yard plantings. There was some in one yard at my recent Asplundh cutting but they were keeping it.

Nice Brad! I’m so glad you made it over there! That sign was hard to see from the road. And I was in that driveway too. LOL.

I grabbed 4 rounds myself on the way home from a lunch errand. I had to grab a few…because it was close to the house. I have plenty of wood up north and a few trees fell in our years here in CT.

I’m so glad it went to a good home of a fellow hoarder! Nice work as usual Brad.

Split it right out of the PU late this afternoon. Some general cordage, some for bundle wood, and a couple wheelbarrows full of nuggets. About a quarter cord total. IMG_4853.JPG IMG_4852.JPG IMG_4851.JPG
