Split one red oak round and some Norway maple nuggets today. (buried in the wheelbarrow) Just have the cedar to split.
You are correct. I remembered the split part, just not the cutting part. I honestly didnt want to include them anyhow. Have to find some beech before years end then.
ID on these two? I believe the first one is a white oak, not sure the 2nd. Finally finished up the poplar that was given to us and had a couple of other pieces of these two types to split.
The first I'll guess as cherry, going by one piece of bark. Second is oak of some sort, judging by the "fleck" it's showing.
Confirmed, my previous two (uploaded earlier) as cherry and red oak. Two more here - pin oak and eastern white pine (that will go to the campwood pile...)

"Well we're officially just over a month into the year and the competition is already heating up!" "That's right fellas. Hoarders from all over North America are joining in to see how they stack up!" "Theres some early title favorites, but it's way too early to say who can win this thing, it's anybodys competition." "I agree. And you can already see, from toothpicks to twigs, folks are trying to find any competitive advantage they can get to gain points" "This is exciting. But it's a long year. Someone out there could be quietly keeping an eye on the leaderboard, while compiling their list, just waiting to upload it on Dec 31st and blow everyone out of the water" "We will keep you posted, now let's get back to swinging"
No, no, no. I posted pics of two i had in the round, but unsplit (red oak and Norway maple) and needed to split them. I was wondering on the 2023 beech round which didnt count. I should be at 12 species.
