This is a 1969 origin Romanian PM model 65 I put together from a kit I bought from Arms of America early 2019, that I finished with a Childers Polish origin reciever with Akbuilder rivets and Windham barrel. It was advertised as bfpu but looked like new to me besides some minor handling marks here and there. My first underfolder and very fun to shoot. Much lighter than my M72B1 and carbines. This is the kit layed out. 1969 marked trunnion. This kit was already demilled and they did just as good of a job as I could have. No complaints. All parts were numbers matching except for the dust cover. Even the hammer retarder, which I wont be using. Let me know if you have my dust cover. This is the barrel headspaced and pinned. Used Manson gauges. This is after sanding/polishing the journals to a good .01" to .005" clearance fit to the components. After cold bluing the barrel. Childers reciever.
Populated barrel. I generally pin the front sight after test firing on target. The pretty much finished product. There is a creek directly behind where i was shooting. There was a roughly 6" tree that was cut about 6-12 months ago hanging. I shot wolf polyformance at it and every round went right through. The tula 8m3 did not. Only when I shot close the edge did it pass through. Might be decent expanding ammo.
Beautiful work. I have a few builds on childers receivers and parts kits from AOA. I just kick myself in the arse when kits were sub $125.00 and I didn't stack em deep on the cheap. Ive always been a fan of the yugos and hungarians kits. But I won't ever turn my nose up to any.
So there are a few AK guys here! I just ordered a PSA Spiker in Russian Red this morning. I hope it gets along with my Polytech Legend DF in light blonde. My other AK is another milled Chinese, a Norinco Hunter. China, IMO, built a better AK than Russia but that is up for debate. I do like milled though they are heavier. Here is a PSA photo of the spiker I just ordered:
Not mine I’ll just put this WTF thing here and let some AK guys comment on it? Concealed carry AK or?
China.. if they did anything right it was metal and wood. I am offended that you add a PSA to your trinity of great rifles. To atone your PSA sins, here are two Chinese Type 56 carbines, and a Yugo 59/66A1.
minute of death I’m sure I’m no marksman but I sure have had some fun with various AK’s that’s for sure I put 2000 rounds thru a cheap Century BFT47 before I sold with it no hiccups
