Our dog has been leaving up to 1/2 hour at a time, worries me but she has to do her business and we're not wire fencing the yard again (the snow drifts will just flatten it again). Turns out our closest neighbor-like our houses are across the fence from close got a Aussie Shep puppy and they've been playing. It will get interesting at some point as neither are fixed. I'll have to figure something out when she goes into heat.

There's a snow drift covering our mutual fence, they just go over the top.

Okay, the new puppy next door is getting annoying. He's showed up like 10 times today, and turns out our 3 year old dog is "just not into puppies". Kiddo and our dog have a really neat deal where she jumps on the trampoline and our silly gun dog runs laps around the yard barking and goes up and down off the trampline with her. Ummm, ding dong puppy brings it all to a halt. The other times he comes to our 16' glass slider wall and paws and begs and stares in.

We've firmly told him to "go home" but that just makes him happy :picard:

Neighbors puppie killed 1/2 our chickens this morning. Caught him in the act. Threw puppy in my house and went to get neighbor to put a couple chickens out of their misery. He was putting a screw on his door jamb to keep the dog's cable (tie him up). Too late. I just feel terrible for the poor hens dying in terror. Praying 3 other injured ones make it. Idk guys, no easy solutions.

Face planted on the way out there when I saw some dead hens, same spot as last time I was feeding the chickens. Found what what's been tripping me but the puppy came to the corner of the cage to see me with a mouth full of feathers.

I'd call the pound and let the owner find it there. If that's an option where you are.

I have lots of legal options to get the dog gone, but the few full time residents out here are tight (he and us are 2 of the few). There has to be another solution, I just cant find it now. Husbands going to look for a pump pellet gun, but that's *if* we see it when pup comes here. He reinforced the chicken wire on the outdoor pen this afternoon but that is not a real fix

Obviously they don't keep any real eye on that dog from what you've said here so it's probably worse. What does the owner say when you talk with them about it? If he can't even make a suitable run for the dog should he even own it?

I'd have a total different feeling if that dog wasn't destructive. Unfortunately a good beating is the only way with some dogs.

Electric fence around your chickens. After he touches it once or twice, he won't come back.

I was thinking you let them free range during the day and that's when the dog got em. Seems worse than i was originally thinking.

Yep, he pushed his way in between the thin chicken wire and bottom rail. We've not let them free range since that puppy showed up. Breaks my heart, like shooting fish in a barrel, and he went inside the coop too :(

Husband came home early to get the ones that had died after the neighbor got the others and was going to go talk to him. But decided to wait til he's not heated.... Our dog wanders too sometimes, but it's always been to close vacation home neighbors that call her over and give her hot dogs and stuff, and she's not a killer despite being an excellent bird dog.

Poor kiddo's in tears. She's the main caretaker and only the one's she hasn't named or bonded with are alive. All our "pet" chickens are dead :( Except the rooster. He lost all his tail and butt feathers. His feet are bloody, but I think that's from him defending hens, not the dog. Dog is Aussie Shep and tons of fur.

Thank you Jeffrey, pretty sure I'm okay besides bruised skinned knees, elbows and left hand/wrist. Husband just covered up the darn steel mud grate edge sticking up. We haven't dug it out yet since a mud storm that laid up to 3" of silt mud last winter. TBH, glad I know I was tripping and not just falling out of nowhere.

Here's Ollie, she is almost 4 years old and almost 6lbs. Of the 3 we rescued over thlast 7 years, she latched on to me for some reason. She thinks I'm the Alpha and she's the Beta....the wife disagrees.

Probably best your hubby cools down a little before talking to him. I won't say much more.

Your last sentence made me chuckle just a little imagining what it would be like to think I'm falling down randomly and not getting tripped.

He said he'd replace the chickens but I said ( and hand signaled him since he can't hear) to wait. We're not getting more chickens unless we can solve the Mayhem problem. This neighbor is oler, out in all kinds of cold weather working on his vehicles or whatever else most days. WWW will find out tomorrow if it's his dog or temporary or....

Bouncy doggieis sweet but totally out of control, neighbor gave me a leash to bring him out of my house, dog practically pulled me over frontways and knocked me backwards jumping up on me several times, WWW said it jumps and hits his front paws in his privates too many times. Dog is just SO hyper and SO quick. Neighbor said first thing driving from there to here "get Mayhem out of the house first becuase he's named Mayhem for a reason and I don't know what he'll do to your house" (I was more concerned about him putting some dying chickens out of misery) . Of course the doggie pooped and peed in my house but no damage.
