It is pretty cool looking plant. Grows the same as broccoli and cauliflower. Taste is slightly different though. I've been growing it for about 10? years.
This was my last haul from the 2023 garden on 1/14/24. With the frigid temps and snow coming I made one last pass . Might be some turnips out there under the snow.
I used to dig carrots all Winter long. A couple of inches of leaves to stop the freeze layer and they'd be easy digging. Plus, if the tops froze they would thaw and turn into a liquid.
I honestly couldn’t tell you. An old coworker of mine had given me a handful of seeds to try back in 2022. They were very sweet.
Scarlet Runners have bright red flowers and grow 10-15-20 foot tall easily. Seed pods very quickly go from eating size to massive the next day.
These were more of an orange flower. They took a while to reach eating size but then quickly got too big/tough.
I planted snow peas last week. Going to plant radishes, beets, and carrots this week and start indoor tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers.
Found some of these stihl growing. Thought they might have frozen from the temps we had in the teens the other week. Perfect to go with a beef roast and carrots this past Sunday.

Planted all of my seeds in my little Jiffy greenhouse. Trying a few different tomato varieties this year: Big Rainbow, Costuloto Genovese, German Pink, Mushroom Basket, Black Sea Man, San Marzano, Moonbeam Grape and Champagne Bubbles. Also have the same varieties I enjoy every year: Cherokee Purple, Black Krim, Brandywine Pink. Trying new varieties of eggplant: Turkish Orange and Rosa Bianco.
