Neighbor got a hold of me… asked if I was interested in a big oak… I said sure… curious if ours perception of big was the same… well it’s definitely big. A little past prime, but still solid wood I think in there… but a few sticks of silver maple and one stick of I don’t know… but it’s heavy… bark looks like Bradford pear, but never have seen one that big… guessing oak of some type…. But as I cut into the one limb of the silver maple… I found a BIG holdout of a wasp nest… never seen one that big. Those two chunks will be processed pretty soon before they awakened from their nap… Chaz i think would appreciate it….
Holy chit! Now there's one thing that wont dull your chain when you slice through it. Cant ever recall cutting through one. Been stung many times while cutting but not through the nest!
Exactly. Since we found out the hard way that my wife is highly allergic to wasp stings and nearly died this summer from a sting, I hate them even more. Nice work Chvymn99 !
yea… never seen the likes of it.. Not sure what variety … but it was a healthy colony…I’m just glad it wasn’t in warmer weather…. I’m not sure I could have ran fast enough..
Definitely agree.. at least they're in "slumber" mode this time of year. X2 ^^^ Winner.. winner.. chicken.. dinner Chickens can have the cremated remains.. I'd have already burnt that entire section.
We took down a dead standing tree, don't remember what, and I saw what looked like yellow rope in the hollow. About the same time they started to attack. Run we did! Still kicking myself for not trying to find a beekeeper to save them.
