Yeah, I recall there was a couple fellas from up in Alaska that I sure wasn't jealous of location wise Except maybe lower taxes, less idiots, and more freedom up there.
Man, you ain't kidd'n! Funny thing is, I'm good friends with a man, whom is retired USCG like myself and he was stationed in Tok, right near Rope's place, the Electronics Loran station up there for 4 years. He told me they had some 46 to 50 BELOW days!
For sure. You know what they say about hindsight. I could heat probably twice the square footage I have with this unit. 22 w w/c @14f outside and 73 in. Just reloaded w/ 4 splits of red oak.
As long as I'm going with it, yooperdave , you are bad a$s , dealing with the snow and the temperatures up there
We peaked today at 20 degrees, I took the kids sledding and we had a blast It’s 19 now and dropping slowly. Burning various chunks of white oak, Bradford pear, elm and apple.
20/72 put a big pc of spruce and some cherry in at 1;00. My wife said I shouldn't cut as cold as it is. Didn't take much convincing as I was leaning that way anyway. With 4 or 5 inches of white on the ground it's not as enjoyable. I cleaned up around the stove the dog and I hauled some oak in from the back stacks.
19* again this morning! 35* was the high. Got a cord and a half cut and hauled to house today. Back is just a little sore!
Single digits again, with high of 28 tomorrow. Rest of the week will be warmer. I gave a rick left in the woodshed, so replenishing will be part of my days. I bought a three pack of chains from Amazon, which arrived yesterday.
Bucked, split and loaded a Toyota pickup this morning for an old guy. Fir hemlock and lodgepole mix. -7C and raining here all afternoon. Driving will be a challenge tomorrow but I ain’t goin nowhere until Monday morning. Gotta do the same for myself tomorrow and throw it in the basement. Them old logs I got need a couple three days in the furnace room and they are dry on the outside. As well as the inside.
17/ 70 loaded up a couple uglies of oak for first round of the overnight. I'll probably get up around 3 to reload.
0f as of now with south wind, should be +6f in the morning. Looking at 29f tomorrow so hoping some of the white crap melts during the day. Still need to get a path to the wood and get some brought to the front but can go back to more of a shoulder wood. Cleared off a neighbors driveway today but should work on the sidewalk from the snowplow.
