The last couple of days have been dry, sunny and cold so it was perfect to move firewood at Mom's. Forecast kept saying sprinkles of rain but the first two days were perfect. Today was windy and we finished before the light snow flakes started to appear.
I didn't get pictures of the first day's work but here is a picture of when we started the second day. I started the second row before I thought of pictures.

campinspecter does the hard work. Loading the wood trucks and moving them to the basement.
    Here he comes

The adapted wheelbarrows that he uses.

    End of the second day

This shed is empty and the next day campinspecter started on the row behind the studs on the left or the backside of the shed on the left.
    IMG_0024.JPEG

The stacks of alder on the left will be moved into the empty shed and be more in the wind tunnel for drying. That way we can get to the shed on the left.
    IMG_0025.JPEG

End of the really nice weather. We had sunshine while the lower half of Vancouver Island was covered in snow.
    IMG_0029.JPEG

Our last day. The last row is only piled half high for when Mom or her neighbour have to access it. We worked out that there is about 2.7 cords in these rows.
    IMG_0030.JPEG

Across the room are the two bins they are currently burning from. The one on the left is the one being used and the one on the right is the next to be burnt.
    IMG_0009.JPEG

Mom has a neighbour that loads the furnace at 9:00 or 10:00 PM at night so she doesn't have to go down until after breakfast. He also likes to make kindling with the small splitter.

    IMG_0010.JPEG

Small shed empty and almost a whole row from the back of the woodshed.
    IMG_0031.JPEG

The stack of firewood in the background is the emergency firewood. It has been sitting there since 2018. Yellow cedar which won't rot left outside.

Behind me are more woodsheds as well as one to the right of the shed we emptied with firewood for next fall/winter.

I read a thread here recently admiring Camp's wood carts! Glad Mom is taken care of regarding wood for awhile :)

    Thanks for the pics!

Sirchopsalot might benefit from the pics of the DIY wood mover.

Great work folks. Love the "wind tunnel". Bet it works great for drying wood.

I have the same electric splitter. Handy little thing for sure.

Would be nice to be in your slippers but the only access to the basement is down outside stairs and around the sidewalk to the basement door. That is why she has been blessed with a neighbour who loads the furnace at night in the winter time and during the day if there is snow or ice on the ground.

    Hey what a neat thread!
It's nice to have a supply laid up like that, ready to use and handy.

I grew up in a maritime area, always appreciate vast views of the ocean. Especially sunrises over the water.

Those wheelbarrows are neat. I never thought of using shelf brackets either. I have yet to use the one I built (no tree work here till the temps go up again), but I will need a back so I can stack it properly.

Mike, thanks for the heads up. I'll keep that idea on hand for sure!

Love the pics! That's a nice firewood setup, everything is under a roof. Looks like the basement holds a LOT of wood. That's a beautiful location! Good on you for doing that.

That’s a good clip of wood! Kudos to y’all! I’m curious, when you say it’s cold, are we taking above freezing?

Most of the time our winter temps are just above freezing. This last weekend we saw temps down around 14 - 16 F It only lasted a couple of days. We missed the snow that others got when it started to warm up. We will probably get another cold snap before winter is over.

The way the basement is set up it holds around six cords, and has to be filled about twice a heating season !

That's a lot of wood! OWB or several stoves? Good thing you can keep that much in the basement. Again, nice setup!
