I have a 365 (pre X-Torq) and a 365 Special. I recently put some time on the 365 after running my 562XP (sending back for warranty work) and wow, it was nice to run something carbureted again where I can make the adjustments. I feel like the 365 has a lot more bottom end grunt/pull compared to the 562. I'm browsing Ebay on a Friday evening and this pops up for $319. BUY IT NOW. I've yet to receive but it's supposed to be in working order. First step is a good wash, inspection and compression test!

I am curious for those who buy on Ebay, what things do you look for? I generally look at the paint wear below the muffler on the mag cases or seeing how "new" or used the cylinder looks.

My vote for bestest chassis that the Swedes ever made. 3 series.

How scuffed up the bottom is. Shows if it was just pushed and slid around to move like it was always in the way or rode in the back of a truck most time.

Are you saying that is good or bad? Generally if it's scuffed on the bottom badly, I'll pass.

It could be either but generally it's a bad thing if they're really scuffed up. Even if its rolled around an enclosed truck bed its been subjected to tenp changes, maybe quickly sometimes (corrosion) and the piston and ring have been sitting in the same spot for who knows how long.

Neglect is just as bad as heavy handed abuse. Not being used so much and stored properly i wouldn't worry too much but then how would the bottom get scuffed.

Eggshooterist how do you best identify the fake 372's? Saw a 372 XP (non x-torq) pop up on Ebay (made in Sweden) but says the year is 2022. Are they still being produced?

I’d say a bad scuffed bottom or sides indicates storage in a tree truck box. That would worry me about the saw maintenance.
But I bought an 044 with a well worn all paint gone deep scratch bottom that has run flawless.

If I'm looking at the same one you are Zack, it looks pretty legit to me. Odd that the serial plate is not shown. The markings on the Jug should be the tell, though I do not know what marks should be. It does have a Euro spec muffler (tube vs top flange on US stuff). No obvious color variations on the plastics. Dude...post a pic of a serial plate! lol

Seller does seem to have a sense of humor.

I'm curious what the bar code stickers are on this saw ?
Possibly a rental maybe ...it's missing the two muffler bolts also .
Keep us posted when you get it

    Found some info...

Appears to be a 2018 build. The last of them.

I was wanting a pic of the black metal tag, but the sticker works as well.

I have found countless deals on ebay (not saws) and sometimes its a matter of timing. My last killer saw deal (034 Stihl) was on FBM. Found it as a 20 minute old listing.

When buying a used saw i first look at bar wear (if i think its the original) then wear on the bottom of the saw. If no pics are posted of the bottom ill ask for them.

Nice find Zack! Hope its a good saw.

    Good point on the bar!

I'm pretty sure there wasn't much of a scuff on the bottom of my 435 (first saw) when it lost compression due to me not knowing what a dull chain was.

Ask for clear pic of the serial tag. Genuine looks like this:

Clones I don’t believe have perfected the serial tag copy. If a serial tag is missing, highly suspect. Could be stolen or a knock-off. I’m walking in those cases.

I’d not buy one unless I knew for sure it had OEM parts, cylinder/piston, clutch cover etc. I’m a snob when it comes to knock-offs.

    Look for shiney Allen heads.

I like to see a few pics of the piston, with the muffler removed. Look at the ring(s), hoping not to see any scorning or apparent stuck rings. Look for machine marks on the piston or lack there of. Pretty standard practice to post such pics when selling a saw on the saw forums.

Here is the 372 in question on Ebay. It had the classic shipping damage and case damage right in front of the oil cap reservoir on the bottom. It sold already but here are some pictures.

The Wood Wolverine I wish all online people posted pictures of the exhaust view of the piston and compression tests. Normally, I'm looking at items taking into account it could be a paper weight or have to put a new piston and cylinder. Sometimes it's a gamble unless you can see it in person.

Good catch on the muffler bracket bolts, I hadn't noticed. The bar code stickers are price tags (549.99) I believe on the one. When I see barcodes on the saw, I generally see it as a positive. Several of the near new saws I've bought still have that barcode.

They’re still made for 3rd world countries. Night Rogue can still ship over the old school original 372xp
