    If you really want to make money and I'm serious
    Make clutch covers with outboard chain tensioners into 2 series Husqvarna clutch covers
    266/268/272/281/288/394/395
    Kids now want tactical chain adjusting
    I'm old it doesn't bother me having a inboard tensioner.

    That sounds like a great idea. I’m assuming the 61 I have has the same (or similar) cover? I know the adjuster is inboard and a pain to get to without a long flathead screwdriver.

    IINM the 028 is the same. I forget about that when i use it. Kinda is a PITA with a scrench. I guess im one of the kids he was referring to.

    Yes any 1 or 2 series is inboard
    I believe there is a market for them there is tons of those saws still being used
    I service them often
    If am clutch covers could be produced economically i think they would sell very well.

    When I have time I’ll pull the one off my 61 and reverse engineer it. That’s the only way I know how. I checked a few online sites to see if anyone else is modeling these in their CAD software but it doesn’t look like it.

    I couldn't begin to guess how many of these old saws are still out there but almost daily I see them for sale on the forums, locally and Facebook/craigslist
    I might like a couple for 288s 394/385s simply because long bar's and sharp chains are
    Fun to tighten the chains.
    I always flipped the saws upside down to tighten them.

    It's ok Brad. I have front and side chain adjusting saws. If I could, I'd change them all over to side. Nothing wrong with preferring the smarter, easier to use design in my opinion. And I'm no kid.

    I've not used it yet, but I recently bought the new Oregon speed cut narrow kerf .325 bar for the 241. Its aluminum core too. Nice and lightweight for sure. I went with 18"

    The thing i hate too is taking the side cover off and forget they're not captive nuts and i drop one!!! :hair:

    Unfortunately, only three of my saws have the captive bar nuts. Also a nice feature.

    Both my 241's and my 2511 have captive bar nuts.

    Things I've grown to appreciate in saws since being exposed to so many...

    Side adjustment, captive bar nuts, inboard clutches, large tank openings and spring AV.

    That said, none of these are deal breakers if I like the performance, weight and balance of a saw.

    Base gasket delete ( never done one before)
    Carb limiters delete
    And probably a aftermarket muffler with a little modification.

    Year's ago when we talked to bruce the owner of ope forum about getting HD filters and elbows for 268/272s he sent a oem sample to china and had them manufacture it they are still selling them.
    I rebuilt a couple of 660s using the mmws cross kits he had made that were
    Strong runner's.
    If you think about all the 50/51/55/257/262s out there
    You could probably fabricate whatever kind and do very well
    Having them reproduced.
