Starting tomorrow highs in the 20's and lows in the teens until next weekend when it gets colder. Strange for northern New England to be so much warmer than many places.

 

Just went out to check and water the rabbits. Temp is hovering between -15 and -20⁰ F. No idea on windchill. It's cold.

The rabbits don't seem to mind much. They're hopping around like it's a spring day. I had to pet the ones that needed scritched. Even the babies were out. The waters freeze clean through in a few hours, so we water several times a day.

 

25 here. Hard Maple and Yellow Birch this morning.

The wind was nasty last night, and made the wood gun eat through a whole burn chamber full of quality hardwood from 8:30-5:45. Glad I was heating with oil.

 

-12f/68f. The windchill is pretty stiff this morning. Got the stove rolling with some sugar maple and birch.

 

26 Ash and Poplar. Cold week ahead and maybe a little snow.

 

1f, -17wc, house is at 71 with a tiny pile of coals just threw on some cherry and elm.

 

18/70 a stiff wind of over 20 mph and 2 to 3 in of snow. Heading down for a reload of red oak and sugar. Boiler is running. We are greeters at church and I have a guess that there will be some empty seats.

 

10 out 66 in. Just loaded some oak and silver maple to get things warmed up in here.

Guess I should've stayed up all night and kept feeding the stove. Stove room was 64 when I went to bed so we lost 20f overnigt

 

10f/ 70f steady 20 mph wind. Threw a couple splits of poplar on the remainder of the load from last night to burn down the bigger coals before we do another full reload of Osage orange, locust, and ash/ sugar maple for the day.

After reading some of the posted temps, I feel like Im living at the equator. Currently 27, not sure WC. Lows suppose to be mid to low teens. Tired of the wind. Keeping me out of the woods. BL and oak mix

In a finished basement, it’s not quite enough when you have -30f -40f wind chills. At least according to the wife it’s not enough. Ran it pretty hard and steady yesterday, I was downstairs making firestarters and sweating, she was upstairs working on a jigsaw puzzle complaining about being cold. Also had the heater in the living room on and it was 68+ up there

 

15/72 red oak keeping us warm.

 

As of 04:30. -4 / 72. Full loads of oak and madrone. For us this is a rare and extreme cold, haven’t seen the likes since ‘07. There’s a stiff breeze but no idea how wind chill formulates since we never use it.
