One Big Gnarly Sassafras

That is quite the Sass!!! I have never seen one remotely close to that size. I don't blame you for walking away from the trunk wood, that looks like a nightmare. At least you grabbed some of the small stuff.

 

Wow, that is impressive. If we have one get 8-10" down here is big.

 

Having a big Sassafras slab dining, or conference room table would be rare and highly valuable

 

More so than Black Walnut?

 

I’m always amazed that trees are actually allowed to grow that big in some areas.
I wonder how big it was when the utility line was put in?

 

Same up here in NW Ohio. There are bigger ones, but most are in that range...
