Ok. Updated to 9.2" of heavy snow so far in my town. It's dumping out there

Edit, the forecast says we are in the 10-16" range by the time it's done tomorrow AM

I used to live at 5600', above the city that was ~5000', we were warmer and sunny many many times when the valley below was socked in and cold. Holy Cow stay warm Camber ! We have -20  Total white out here and there today. Husband and kiddo are on the way home from bowling league, bad evening. But I think we'll all be hunkered down here through Tuesday, school already went virtual for Monday.

The elevation really matters doesn't it? We never use to have snow or cold days ever growing up. 40 below we would still walk to school, but we knew how to dress back then. Now we get them every few years but my taxes don't go down. I'm making elk stew tomorrow. We'll stick around the house until Monday. Tuesday on it is suppose to get really warm for January. Our winter has been really mild up till now. Kinda nice.

Sitting at +1f with 5-11.5" new snow. Got the tractor out and got a few driveways done. With the blowing and snowplowing I will have plenty more to do tomorrow in the -5f+ temperatures. Sure like how the JD Hydro 185 with blower works.

Weather guessers off by a few it seems...-35C feels -46C. Having a hard time keeping the shack warm, as normally by now the skirting is banked with a foot of snow, but there's only 5-6" on the ground in the deep spots. Going to be a long week. Fire/furnace/oven:headbang: Times like this make me question why I live in this (sometimes) frozen wasteland. Sooooo over winter and the crap weather has only begun.

-14f here, -36 wind chill. Wood stove isn't keeping up so I have an additional heater I'm using. It's been below freezing for almost 10 days which seems to amplify these very cold nights. 65 inside. Low is -24 today and tomorrow.

I totally agree with you. It’s supposed to be colder in the Denver metro area over the next few days, than it is at my house at 9,000 feet! Many times, we are above the clouds and basking in the sun - while the city is socked in and snowing.

It’s currently a balmy 15 degrees and snowing lightly here. Much warmer than most of the country. Burning my standard, old growth Douglas Fir.

I included a fitting summer pic, just for fun. My wife shooting a 44 magnum. Check out the flame coming out of the end of the barrel.
    She’s 120 pounds of “ain’t scared”

    Stay warm, teammates.

    Love, Cash

Yes, except for here :picard: but it's not mountains-just flat. And cold and windy, on the flip side we don't need air conditioning in the summer.
Oh boy, hang in there! Appears that will be here by Monday. Going to open the cupboard doors to the sinks and put a space heater in the laundry room. Thought we already blew a hose the other day :picard: Hopefully you can hunker down for a few days tend heating your home?

I just checked our forecast again, phew, less brutal.

-31 at 8:00 pm. Same overnight. Went to the woodpile and had a pizz. I had to yell at my wife to bring an axe so I could chop myself down.

12° here right now which is unusually cold for us. It doesn't seem so bad after reading some of these other comments.
My stove's seen a lot of cherry and old growth douglas fir today. This is the most I've demanded out of my little lopi and it's keeping the house 74°. That's with a lot of feeding and keeping it over 500° as much as possible.

47 at 6am in Northeast Pennsylvania. I have red oak and ash stacked by the stove now. Probably just a 4 split fire when I get home in a bit. Try to keep it down especially since this morning I will be sleeping in the same room as the stove. I am trying to not sleep as much on my days off, that way I can actually sleep at night on the weekends. I will be away Sunday into Monday, and it's going to be a cold night, so I better break out some black locust and keep the wood stacked high for the Mrs.

19 and a light dusting. Still windy. Supposed to stay well below freezing for the next 10+ days. Maybe get enough ice to wet a line.
