Wow. Time flies when you’re “having fun”! The days are just cruising along and we are almost the middle of January already. Weather is up and down temperature wise but looks like the winter temperatures are going to stay for a while now.

Lots of little work things getting done around the property on days off. Burn piles are being reduced, 7 of 12 piles now gone. But that work looks like it will end now. 6-10 inches coming from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. And I’ll be at the workhouse mostly so won’t be able to keep fire going.

Took my son to get 4 wisdom teeth pulled the other day. Poor guy. But, fortunately, they were able to get him in because the teeth were giving him trouble. They must of had a cancellation, because she said it would be 2-3 months if he didn’t do it now. All done Tuesday and he is making quick recovery progress. A BIG relief for all of us. And a BIG bill for us. Yikes. But that’s okay. I’ll make it up one way or another.

I got the Hackberry, went faster than I thought. Snagged a couple downed decent sized "parts" of Ash, another small crooked Ash, a Redbud blow over that's smaller but surprisingly old, and a decent White Oak limb that fell.

Saw this old Honey Locust that's near thornless now and still healthy.

In all honesty, it probably wasn't ever. Now, recently there's some really good cold hardy grape varietals that are being grown here in Wisconsin and other colder climates. Now there's a still a bunch of WI wineries that bring grapes from California over and make wine and bottle them here.

Your affinity for wine is the same type I share for cigars. ;)

I'd say it's way worse when they choose to leave.

I agree...not good either way, but the "choice" part of it has extra sting...

Super soggy here. Supposed to get windy later on. Then a shot of cold. That's a pretty good mix for the power going out...let's hope it stays on.

The boiler is prepped...this will be the hardest its worked in over a year. I just need to go fill the gas cans after work this evening and we'll be all set.

No disrespect intended here and I really hope no one takes offense......

How's about starting a grieving thread or something of that nature? It could be placed up in the shaded area same as the "Thoughts and Prayers For Those in Need" making it a permanent thread.

No, I'm not a cold heartless SOB.

Yeah, I know this section is titled "everything else" and this thread is the "what's up today" section but it certainly is a sensitive topic that not only needs but also deserves it's very own thread, don't you agree?

    Thanks!

My internet went down Mon or Tues, finally back online! No phone, no tv, no computer for most this week. What did I miss?

I think that's a good idea. I didn't realize so many members on here had these things going on in their life. It would at least give them a way to get this stuff off their chest at their convenience. You guys don't need to be sitting around in a blizzard with a million things on your mind and the emotions to match without someone to talk to. You're probably not going to get expert advice like you do from a counselor but what you do get will be genuine.

Just for the record, I've had five close family members pass since joining along with multiple medical emergencies. Not counting Aunts, Uncles, cousins, close friends..........

Yes, I do share everyone's grief/hardships/prayers but I honestly think it is better off in a thread that is specific to that topic.
