We’re at 33-34 this morning. Wife opened the draft a bit too far when she left so it’s 76 inside. Bit too warm for my liking so I’ll let it go out for a while. Probably start it again before bed. They say we’re hitting 42 today so hopefully some of the melt won’t make ice rinks. Not supposed to get to freezing till 5am tomorrow and then only for an hour or two.

Looks like winter is arriving tomorrow. Just got done with a major aquarium kill due to a defective heater, water was 95f. Thinking I will run out, do some splitting and grab some of the locust from the private "Never Use" stash and some more chunky monkeys. Screenshot_20240107_104838_WeatherBug.jpg

If you can find a way to revoke this right, I'm all for it! If you can take the snow I'd appreciate it, too. LOL

JPDavis I see Prescott is over 5000 ft elevation. Does your snow stick around for long? I visited Scottsdale for Christmas one year and found it interesting that there was a dusting of snow on the hills and heavy snow at higher elevations.

Sean, it all depends on the year. Last year I was shoveling and plowing at least once a week from December through February. In 2019 we had 40 inches come down over a 3-day period that lasted well into March. There are other years when we get almost nothing or it rains more than snows.

Only 36 here but the snow just started to fall and temp is dropping. Few logs from a dead standing red oak I cut two days ago in the stove. Life is good.

Well it’s 34f with a promise of high 20’s. Same the past several days. It’s like a weather front just laid down like an old dog.
I was scrounging up some splits from last summer in my clear cut, and have a nice load of white oak splits mixed with 4’x4” white oak limbs.
my boiler damper and fan-stopped running and it was the occasional loose wire connecting, requiring removal of the box and cleaning connectors. Couldn’t get to it because we had a two hour trip to a wedding in prairie land farm country north on Indianapolis. ( Clinton County, for curious Hoosiers)

Up and running again. Also have the grill warming up for some 2023 harvest. We had neighbors over for NY eve, and these were a hit.
deer roll ups with a big of cream cheese and banana peppers ( jalapeño too much ) wrapped in bacon . Wife is dairy averse so hers are boring

Low 30s down to 25 outside tonight.

Don't usually know exactly what I'm burning, but tonight I know I'm burning ash.
    Showing 74 on the thermostat.

But of course you do not need to go far to get warm again; just to lower elevation. But that is a nice area where you are.
