It’s splitter and bark debris through the years. I just leave it there. Makes a nice layer between the ground and the wood.
I started deliveries Friday afternoon as soon as I left work and didn't stop until 3pm Sunday. Got 20 deliveries done in that time and am glad to be back at my regular job haha.
It wasn’t long ago at all when this area was filled with splits. Still have a long ways to go but it’s nice seeing the ground here again.
There is but it's not worth it for me to pick it up and it keeps the spits on the bottom from being in direct contact with the ground.
Up to 182 cords out the door. If my estimations are correct, that is slightly more than 50% of what I had on hand at the end of summer. As of Sunday, I was completely caught up on orders and was concerned I wouldn't have much to do this weekend but have taken 8-10 orders since.
Good job, so 350 for the season is not out of the question? I'm going to predict 400 for 2024 as you are an animal at firewood.

Will you roll over inventory for next year? I imagine you always have some left over. Try selling in February when all the other sellers "seaseoned" wood has been exhausted.
Probably true. I like being done with deliveries by then but that’s not going to be a luxury this year.
2023 has come and gone. It was an interesting year but a productive one and I learned more about the wood business (always learning new things or trying to at least.). I don’t know exactly how many cords I got worked up but I know it’s well over 300. My estimate is about 360-375. I have sold 225 cords to date and am still taking orders (although slower than I prefer.). Last year I was sold out before Christmas and that number was at 285 cords. Why haven’t I sold as much as before? A couple reasons why. First, it was very warm last year so people had a lot of wood leftover. Regulars cut back on their order size significantly. Second, there are more people selling on Facebook which is my main place to gain exposure. Third, I upped my prices and had more people tell me I was too high than ever. This game upset me and I don’t plan on charging less. At this point, my profits are just about the same as last year selling 60 cords less. What does this mean for me moving forward? I will be selling wood all winter, something I’ve never done before. It also means next year I will be selling a significant amount of 18-24 month seasoned wood which will only make me stand out more from the crowd.
