I just opened a new bag of Cape Cod chips yesterday and noticed that it says on the bag that they offer factory tours. Got me wondering if any of the hoarders have been, no real reason just curious.
I've been there. In Hyannis. It's a simple self-guided tour behind glass panels of the operation. You can see potatoes sliding into the deep fryers, where people with long paddles stir the chips as they cook, to keep them from clumping up. At the end of the process, you can see the chips moving to different flavoring/salting stations. Small bags are free at the end, in a gift store. Maybe a 10 minute walking tour, depending how crowded it is.
Thanks, just got me curious. I remember as a kid touring the Kelloggs plant which now the tour is much different as is the Hershey tour, I've been told.
I've been there as well. When you are done there, you can go next door to Cape Cod Beer. Chips and beer all in the same place = priceless.
Yup, probly 30 years ago, as Mike said not much to it. Also a big fan of a Cape Cod Blond ale on the beach.
