You would have to check with someone like Eric @Kinsman Stoves to see if the control box on the PS-35 is the same as the Castile and Santa Fe. I would think they are, as the Heatilator uses almost all Quadrafire internal parts. But better to be safe.

The only reason I would suggest bumping up the feed 10%, is it may help with the Faulty starts (more fuel is needed as Jay suggested).

The Castile I had last year (bought to sell and make a buck :)) It started every time, but it didn't want to feed enough to satisfy the thermocouples heat requirement. I bumped it up to 10% and it started about 9/10 times. But would still have one faulty start every once in awhile. My Classic Bay never missed a beat. The added feed time (90 seconds at startup, as opposed to the 60 seconds of feed time for the smaller stoves - Santa Fe, Castile, PS-35).

The larger impeller may help as well. Added airflow will boost the air temp from the ignitor. The faster air (more air) will light the pellets slightly faster, which will add more flame on time to reach the desired thermocouple temp (600°).

The ash in the picture looks good to me. Read the manual, you have to dump the burn pot once a day. How much fuel are you burning when the stove runs on high for a day (24 hrs)? Dont mess with the control box and no the Heatilator has it's own control box with different part number than the QuadraFire box.

    I thought so too.....good air/fuel ratio.

Stove will burn almost 2 bags on high in 24 hours. The amount of ash and color in the stove doesn't concern me. It's the ash that builds up in the stove pipe and behind the baffles. It causes the stove to go lazy after 2 or 3 days. It requires a complete tear down and cleaning of the stove pipe and everything. We dump the pot at least once a day if it runs on high for long periods of time.

Also want to mention again that the stove has no start up issues. It gets plenty of pellets to light and will run for 10 minutes or so and then it just shuts off. I have a new thermocouple here I am going to install and see if that helps.

Do not own one, never worked on one, researched it after seeing your post.Appears to be a high maintenice unit, just the way it was built.Quality but at a price.Reccomend an upgrade. If I had anything that required heavy service after 5 bags would dump it.

for a 35,000 BTU unit you are right on for two bags a day. I would have looked at the CAB-50 or PS-50 if you have to run it like that on high for a 24 hour period.

That tells me also that the fuel/air ratio is right on. I think you are asking a lot of any stove to run it wide open all the time.

I know the OP thought it was the right stove for his situation, but it seems to be the classic example of an under-sized stove.
