    Nice work. I hear you about PITA scrounging…none of the wood I get is easy to access. Through brambles, up hills, far from the truck or tractor. Oh well, gets me exercise.

    The first set of pics…the scaly bark is hickory? If someone posted that in a wood ID thread I would have guessed cherry

    Pics 3, 4, 5 & 6 Are black birch. The only hickory i could grab was some larger limb wood. The bigger stuff still on top of the hill as i went by there earlier this week.
