    Broke down and fired up the stove. Some two year C/S/S ash is warming up the house tonight.

    Ash wasn't my first choice, but it just happened to be under one part of the stacks that still was top covered, and it's been raining most of the day. I haven't covered the rest as I usually wait until early October to do that.

    The spruce and poplar that I had set aside for early season fires was soaking wet from the rain.

    It's supposed to get back into the upper 70s this weekend. Maybe I'll cover the stacks a bit early this year.

    It looks like Thursday afternoon/night we'll be our next fires, 32 or 34 degrees for the low.

    Woke to 36 this a.m., and after I grabbed my coffee, got a nice little kindling fire going to warm the house.
